Flo-Joe Radio >> Skype Interviews Project

Students

If you're preparing for the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) exam, and are feeling nervous about the Speaking Paper then this is the podcast for you! You will hear some CAE exam students just like yourself being interviewed for a one-to-one conversation and 'longer turn'. This first podcast features: Andrzej, from Poland, and Vucosava, who is currently living in Portugal. The interviewer is Peter Travis of Flo-Joe.

Acknowledgements: We are extremely grateful to Andrzej and Vucosava for allowing themselves to be recorded and then broadcast on Flo-Joe Radio!

Please note that these recordings are for educational purposes and are not an exact replica of the CAE Speaking Paper format. If you want to learn more about the Speaking Paper, download the CAE handbook below.

How to use the podcast: Print page 61 of the Sample Paper 5 section of the handbook on the Cambridge ESOL website, which contains the photographs used for part of the interview. Listen to the podcast here:

Teachers and Practitioners

Over the past few weeks Flo-Joe has been carrying out some informal one-to-one interviews with students preparing for the CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) exam. We are using Skype, which is a program for making free telephone calls over the internet to anyone else who also has Skype.

What's next? We hope to carry out conference calls with pairs of students in order to get closer to the CAE Speaking Paper format. We will also soon be publishing case studies in educational journals and newsletters outlining the process we went through to create these podcasts. Watch this space!

If you are interested in Podcasting and would like to find out more, Peter will be speaking at the Wales Regional Support Centre Annual Conference on the 18th May 2006.
